Timothy Quigley is a drummer/percussionist/multi-instrumentalist/composer living in Brooklyn, New York. Known for his versatility
and tastefulness, Timothy is accomplished in playing
in a wide variety of musical styles and contexts on the drum set, congas, bongos, doumbek, def, riq, tapan and
frame drums.
His unique sound has led to collaborations with such talents as legendary clarinetist and mandolin player Andy
Statman, and the late Beat poet Allen Ginsburg, trumpeter Jon
Birdsong (Beck, Smokey and Miho), Ryan
Francesconi (Joanna Newsom). He has worked extensively as a sideman, sharing the stage with notables such as reggae/hip hop sensation Matisyahu, Smokey Hormel (Beck, Tom Waits), Frank London (Klezmatics, Klezmer Brass All Stars), Greg Cohen (Masada), Matt Munisteri, Ron Miles (Bill Frisell Quartet), Reuben
Radding, Brad
Shepik, Charming Hostess and the klezmer rock band Golem.
A specialist in Balkan and Middle Eastern rhythms,
Quigley has worked with Bulgarian saxophone virtuoso Yuri Yunakov, Algerian Rai master Cheb Nasro, renouned vocalist Amalia Papastefanou, Christos Govetas (Bill Frisell,
Ziya), violinist
Beth Cohen, Greek clarinetist Lefteris Bournias and Matt
Moran (Slavic Soul Party). As a composer, Timothy
Quigley has scored music for modern dance, film and
television including the film Trans and the
short Ed's Holistic Auto Repair which aired
on Bravo and IFC. Recent CD
releases include One Ring Zero's Wake Them Up, rf's
interno and falls, Adam
Good's Dances of Macedonia and the Balkans,
and Dan
Cantrell's soundtrack for the documentary Divided
Loyalties.
